News Study suggests: Headaches or
Bad mood could be the Caused By
Dehydration
A new, small study of 25 women suggests that being mildly dehydrated can take a toll on women’s mood and cognitive function. Hydration has been shown to relieve Brain Fog.
In the study, published in the latest issue of The Journal of Nutrition, researchers found that dehydration was a prime factor in causing headaches, loss of focus, fatigue, and low mood during periods of both exercising and resting.
Time magazine reported last week that the women in the study experienced the bad effects from only mild dehydration — about one percent lower than optimal hydration levels. Learn more about hydrating your body with Kangen Water®
The Huffington Post also cites a 2009 study conducted by Tufts University researchers “that dehydration leads to fatigue, confusion, and a negative mood among young female athletes.”
While men weren’t included in the research, the results likely apply to them as well.
To stay hydrated, opt for plain water or other non-alcoholic and caffeine-free drinks. Drink ionized, anti-oxidated and alkaline water. Click here for short demo on our bottled waters.
While exactly how much water you need to drink daily varies and isn’t well defined (some experts say eight glasses a day is too much), one good measure is to check the color of your urine: “if it’s darker rather than nearly clear, you need more water,” Enagic® the maker of Kangen Water® says we should drink at least half our weight in ounces of water every day. Assessment of the state of the U.S. Water Infrastructure,
State of the United States
Water Infrastructure
The Water Innovations Alliance (WIA) recently completed an assessment of the state of the U.S. water infrastructure, which was given an overall grade of D- by the American Society of Civil Engineers in its most recent infrastructure report card.
Underlying that nearly failing grade, the WIA produced some startling statistics in a recent newsletter (not yet posted to their website):
- More than 20% of water treatment systems in the U.S. — serving 49 million people — have violated provisions of the Safe Drinking Water Act at some point in the past 5 years.
- About 15% of municipal water is lost to leaks, representing 7 billion gallons of clean drinking water PER DAY.
- The U.S. water system represents more than 4% of total U.S. electricity usage.
- Up to 20 years of significant investment are required to stabilize and modernize the U.S. water infrastructure, with around $300 billion capital required. More>>>

New Business Resolutions for 2012
5 Easy Tasks to Check off Your List
Always bear in mind that your own resolution to success is more important than any other one thing. –Abraham Lincoln
It’s time to get a handle on our business and clear out 2011 stuff and make new Current file folders. While you may have your own resolution to loose a few pounds, cut credit card debt, or spend more quality time with your family, your business could probably use a few resolutions of its own. But often we think our resolutions can be overwhelm-
ing and, quite frankly, unachievable. You can easily do these five realistic business goals for the New Year: You must take Action!
1. Organize all contact information
If you’re like most small business owners you have business cards, scraps of paper with contact information, and maybe even a notation or two in your planner of potential clients. They’re doing you no good scattered around; Do this NOW: gather them all together and organize them into a rolodex or electronic file that makes it easy to look up individuals and actually contact them! It really takes less time then hunt & locate.
2. Contact potential clients regularly
Now that you’ve organized all your contact information, it’s time to devise a plan for actually contacting these people by just putting it on your calander. For some reason or other you know they qualified as potential clients; now it’s time to give them the chance to request your services. Determine the method of contact you feel most comfortable with: phone calls, mailings, lunch appointments, gift calendars. You need to remind these people, without being pesky, that your services will enhance their lives.
3. Back up your hard drive
While this is a boring resolution, it’s definitely something that you can check off in one day. You need to perform this regularly so put it on your calender too, but if you don’t, today is the day to start; don’t wait until your computer crashes to regret not performing this resolution. You have lots of crucial, financial information that clients expect you to manage. If you loose it, you also loose your credibility, and that can cost you more than you can imagine.
4. Increase your staff
When you think of this resolution, all you might see in your mind are dollar signs. But if you hire right, you can train an employee to perform monotonous accounting tasks for less than you charge your clients. This means that if you pay your employee $15/hour and you charge $40/hour to do those tedious jobs, you make a $30 profit each hour this employee works; now you can spend your time doing the more significant accounting tasks. And if you use a son or daughter to do this work, part of their salary is tax-deductible! check http://RosesBookkeepingWestPalmBeachFL.com
5. Better manage client information
Whether it’s your filing system or the electronic method you use, you may want to find something that helps you better manage client information. Can you easily run reports that give you a birds-eye view of your clients’ information? Do you have a quick method of accessing client information from multiple views? You may consider purchasing one that could help you. For keeping your financials, because 80% of small businesses use Intuit’s QuickBooks Pro, that’s the software package we suggest.
Contaminated Water from Chemicals!
Busted! Fracking Chemical Found in Wyoming Water Supply
The U.S. EPA has just released test results indicating that at least one common fracking chemical has contaminated drinking water in the town of Pavillion, Wyoming. The finding is significant because the natural gas industry has long denied any systematic connection between its fracking operations and harm to water supplies, despite a growing body of anecdotal evidence. Denial has traditionally been a pretty easy call for the industry, given its exemption from chemical disclosure rules that would have definitively revealed (or disproved) any such link years ago. However, the new investigation may be only a taste of things to come, as the EPA gears up for closer scrutiny of fracking chemicals and their impacts.

Do you believe it? Pay for Tap Water!
I think its Not cheap but healthy, and certainly more sanitized!
In the name of cheapness (and much to the annoyance of my family), I now travel with a collapsible cup. You know, the little cups from yesteryear that expand like an accordion to hold your drink of choice and then, when the last drop is gone, collapse to the size of a small compact for easy transport in your purse or pocket.
Yes, unfortunately, the time has come that we must carry our own personal drinking vessels at all times — unless we want to spend our hard-earned money on a crummy cup of tap water or a cup of ice when we are out and about.
It’s sad but true that the world has come to this!
Just the other day, I ordered my lunch and, as is my custom, I asked for a cup of ice water to go along with it. The tap water had always been free before with lunch, and sometimes they would throw in a lemon without me even asking.
But on this day, I was told (with no apologies, mind you) that there was an additional charge of 25 cents for the cup of water. Plus tax. Ugh.
Well, hello, I handed the cup back to them and had them re-ring my order. Honestly, I believe I would choke before I’d pay that for a crummy cup of tap water.
I was already on the warpath about this annoying H20 charge, because a few days before, when my husband and I were roaming around in Wilson County, we stopped in a gas station market to get a soft drink and had a similar comeuppance.
I don’t like soft drinks without ice, so my habit is to grab a cold Diet Coke out of the market cooler and then politely ask the clerk if I can get a cup of ice from the fountain drink area to pour the Coke over.
Every time in the past, if I had bought their drink, they had accommodated my request for the accompanying cup of free ice. But on this recent outing, I was told that the cup of ice would be an additional
50 cents.
When I questioned the just-doing-her-job clerk a little more closely, I was told that, technically, the ice was free but the cup was 50 cents. Ugh.
I returned the Coke to the cooler and again went thirsty (I am stubborn that way and could have just kicked myself for not having packed a cooler for our outing).
I know that most every business is trying to stay afloat and that making money is the name of the game. But I must say, charging customers for water and ice is over the top for me — especially when I’m making a purchase. It’s not like I just came in and ordered the water or ice without being a “real customer.’’
Fortunately, the solution is easy and justifiable for me and you. My little cup is now my constant friend … traveling in my purse and standing at the ready to keep me hydrated and save me some money (and frustration). Plus, if we all did this, think of how many cups we could keep out of the landfill.
Yes, going green is definitely the cheap way to go in this case. Let me know of ways you are going green that also are saving you money.
Stay cheap!

Need Some Inspiration?
Here are a few things I do to get the juices flowing again:
from my colleague and mentor, Kate Buck, Jr.
-
- Get up from the computer and take a break! Exercise, take a walk, run an errand or even sometimes just walking to the mailbox is enough. Some fresh air will do you good!
-
- Journal your thoughts. Write down the stuff that’s clouding your mind. Usually, this is a list of things to do, note’s to self and reminders. Oh, and things to do.
-
- Organize your workspace. I can’t work when my workspace is cluttered. This includes both physical & digital spaces. I file notes, arrange digital files, consolidate papers, etc, until my workspace is a clean slate!
-
- Answer email. There’s nothing like an empty inbox to make a person feel accomplished! (I also answer all my social media notifications/inbox messages here, too, if I’m behind.)
-
- Close out all your browser tabs. Yeah, you know you have 200 of them open and they’re slowing down your processing power anyway. Go ahead and read, share or close them out now.
-
- Spend sometime with PEOPLE. I don’t care if they are in the flesh, or online. Just get out of your head, and get related back with what’s going on in the real world…
-
- Knock out a few small projects. You know, the one you’ve been putting off that’ll only take 2 minutes
-
- Write a blog post like this. ahem
And sometimes, I do all of em. In that order. And then it’s another day ;^)

Why is pH Balance of Acid vs Alkalized Important
Palm Beach Kangen Water – Why
Is pH Important?
Palm Beach Healthy pH Water The term ‘pH’ is one that is probably familiar to most Palm Beach residents, but few may know that it stands for the ‘potential of Hydrogen‘ in a solution. If a solution contains a great concentration of Hydrogen ions, it has a low pH (2.5-5.5) and is an acidic solution.
If the Hydrogen ion concentration is low, the solution has a pH of 8.5-11 and is a basic, or alkaline solution. A solution with a pH of 7 is neutral, neither acidic or alkaline. To read more …..

Drinking Water not Soda, reduce Diabetes Risk
Scientists Say: Drinking water instead of fizzy drinks significantly reduces risk of diabetes
- 10 per cent of NHS budget spent on diabetes and complications, claims charity
- Diabetes can increase risk of heart disease five-fold
Taken from Health News article By Claire Bates September 2011
Liquid refreshment: Experts say water is the only liquid our bodies need to hydrate perfectly.
Researchers from Harvard University are presenting new evidence which shows replacing sugar-sweetened drinks with water can lead to weight loss and help reduce the risk of Type 2 diabetes by seven per cent (7%).
Professor Frank Hu, from the Harvard School of Public Health, said: ‘There is convincing evidence that regular consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages is associated with increased risk of obesity and diabetes, and emerging evidence that these beverages increase the risk for heart disease.”
‘To reduce risk of obesity and cardiometabolic diseases, it is important to reduce consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages and replace them with healthier choices such as water and unsweetened tea or coffee.’

More than 2.8 million people in the UK have the chronic condition of diabetes, while another one million have it without realising, according to NHS figures.
People who develop the Type 2 condition lose the ability to break down glucose into energy, which causes blood-sugar levels to rise.
The immediate symptoms of hyperglycaemia include feeling thirsty and drowsy. It can lead to diabetic ketoacidosis, which can eventually cause unconsciousness and even death. Known as the “Silent Killer” because it damages your body from the inside out. You just don’t know!
Diabetes raises the risk of heart disease by up to five times. Over time it can cause sight problems and nerve damage leading to foot ulcers.
Patients are encouraged to exercise more and eat a healthier diet to help control the condition.
Diabetes UK says 10 per cent of total NHS spending goes towards treating the condition and its complications.
The International Chair on Cardiometabolic Risk (ICCR), which conducted the research, says more than 100,000 people are diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes every year, with 26 million Brits projected to be obese by 2030.
